Economic Hardship: NURTW Kaduna distributes cash, goodsto 360 people as palliative support

The Kaduna State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW), under the leadership of Alhaji Tanimu Aliyu Zaria, has supported 360 people with money and other palliatives to ease the hardships faced at this time of high cost of living due to the removal of fuel subsidy.

The NURTW State Chairman, Alhaji Tanimu Aliyu Zaria, who disclosed this at a press conference, said they took this step in order to support the people at this time when life has become expensive.

“Any help or support given by the Federal Government does not reach every member of our association; that is why we concluded that we, as members of the group, have to contribute whatever we get from our work in order to support women who have lost their husbands, and other less-privileged male members”, said Tanimu Zaria.

He added that the people who benefited include women who received N10,000 each and a piece of new textile cloth; while other women got N10,000 each. Also, 323 men benefited from these funds in order to improve their lives in this era when poor Nigerians are trying hard to get food to eat.

Alhaji Tanimu Aliyu Zaria added that they need support from the Kaduna state government and the federal government, because of the activities they are conducting. He urged the NURTW members to always support the leaders of the association in order to progress.

Also, speaking to the media at the press conference, one of the NURTW leaders in Kaduna, Alhaji Lawal Abubakar, who is also the next in command to the Chairman , said such support has just started, adding that after this first phase, the second and third phase shall soon be witnessef; and that all of them are coming at a time when the community, especially the less-privileged in the society need help and assistance.

He further said this is just one of the activities of NURTW in Kaduna, because according to him, it has been supporting the needy and less-privileged for a long time.

Responding, the 323 men and women who received the support expressed their immense thanks and appreciation to Alhaji Tanimu Aliyu Zaria and other leaders of the NURTW in Kaduna, because of how the gesture saved their lives at this time when they are struggling with the high cost of living.

Most of them said that Alhaji Tanimu Aliyu Zaria has been supporting them with everything they need for a long time, and therefore, prayed that God Almighty protect him and all the members of NURTW.
